Archeologists Find Proof of the Great Flood and Noah’s Ark!

Has a team of Middle-Eastern archeologists found proof of the “Great Flood?” They say they may have, or at least the origins of the biblical story.

The researchers have drawn their conclusions based on the discovery of the ancient and well-preserved wreckage of a ship! But before you get too excited, no, they do not believe they found wreckage of the Ark, but rather, the wreckage of several ships that date back to 400BC, that may have provided them with clues to the origination of the Great Flood.

Off the coast of the town of Nessebar, Bulgaria, are 60 shipwrecks almost perfectly preserved which date back to 400BC. The shipwrecks were found at depths between 1,000ft and almost 6,000ft, where there is so little oxygen that the decay process takes much longer. Experts who have been examining the ancient wrecks believe they could help solve a longstanding theory which relates to Noah’s Ark.

Several years ago marine geologists William Ryan and Walter Pitman claimed they found evidence that the Black Sea, 20,000 years ago, was a small lake rather than the colossal 170,000 square mile sized body that is present today. However, towards the end of the last Ice Age – which finished around 12,000 years ago – the glaciers began to melt, causing sea levels to dramatically rise, connecting the relatively small lake to the Aegean Sea.

The pair of marine geologists believed they found evidence of buildings in the depths of the Black Sea, which proved parts of it were once dry land. They claim this could be the origin story of Noah’s Ark in which the Earth was flooded almost instantly as a punishment from God to Man. At the time, the geologists said, that the rapid increase in volume of the Black Sea and the existence of the ruins, was evidence that there was indeed a “Great Flood.”

More recently, the researchers from the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project (MAP) who are analyzing the shipwrecks, believe there is little evidence that the flooding was rapid, as suggested by Ryan and Pitman, but rather a gradual process due to rising sea levels.

But, they do agree that the presence of the sunken ships, does lend credence to the idea that a “Great Flood” did indeed occur in our ancient past, just not one that happened so quickly, as in the biblical account, and they say therefore could have spawned the Noah’s Ark story, and similar accounts of a Great Flood in the writings of other ancient peoples.

Meanwhile, there is a team of evangelical Christian explorers who have found what they claim with “99.9 percent” certainly, is the wreckage of Noah’s Ark beneath snow and volcanic debris on Mount Ararat in Turkey. Noah’s Ark Ministries International, a Hong Kong-based documentary team, claims to have found wooden pieces from a structure which carbon dates back 4,800 years and was found around 13,000 feet above sea level.
