On October 4, 1982, Nur Omar Mohamed and his wife Fadhuma Abukar Haji Hussein had the last of their seven children, a girl. The birth took place in Mogadishu, Somalia. When the girl was only 2, her mother died, leaving the father and grandfather to raise her and her siblings. Grandpa was, at the time, the Director of Somalia’s National Marine Transport. Eventually, the family left Somalia because of the war raging in that country. They ended up spending four years in a refugee came in Kenya, just across from the border with Somalia.
When the girl was 10, the family arrived in New York to seek asylum. After living for a short time in Virginia, the family moved to Minneapolis, where the father worked as a taxi driver before getting a job with the Post Office.
Reportedly, the girl’s father and grandfather taught the girl and her siblings the importance of democracy, but evidently, their lessons didn’t take. The girl went on to graduate high school and then college, getting degrees in political science and international studies. She took a job as a community nutrition educator at the University of Minnesota.
She got involved in politics in 2012 when she worked as campaign manager for Minnesota State Senator Kari Dziedzic. A year later, she worked as campaign manager for Andrew Johnson, who was running for the Minneapolis City Council.
In 2016, she ran for the Minneapolis House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, a predominately socialist political party.
In 2018, she ran as a Democrat for the seat of former Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim in the US House of Representatives. She won and was sworn into office on January 3, 2019, where the Somali born Muslim instantly began bashing virtually everything about America, proving that the lessons her father and grandfather taught her about the importance of democracy were a failure.
In case you haven’t guessed by now, this Somali born Muslim is known as Rep. Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. Unlike fellow freshman Democratic Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Omar is almost always seen wearing her traditional khimar Muslim scarf head covering.
Since taking office, Omar has vocally expressed her disdain for Israel and Jews, often drawing the ire of Jews here in the United States and in Israel, making one question the wisdom of House Squeaker Nancy Pelosi who assigned Omar to serve on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Some conservatives believe that Omar still supports the Muslim extremists that operate in her home country of Somalia. One of those is President Donald Trump, who accused Omar of supporting Al Qaeda. In her response below, you will see that she refused to deny or confirm her support of Al Qaeda, leaving many to believe Trump is right.
Notice that Omar, in her response to Trump, states:
I will not dignify it with an answer because I know that every single Islamophobe, every single person who is hateful, who is driven by an ideology of othering, as this president is…
Excuse me??? Omar has been very hateful in her comments about Jews and Israel because she is driven by her Muslim ideology. She has made anti-Semitic comments that are no different than the Islamophobic comments she condemns Trump and others of making.
Additionally, everyone has made Trump’s tweets about the four Democratic congresswomen into an issue of race. He never tweeted anything about race. It just so happens that the four women Trump is referring to are women of color, but more importantly, these four women had been actively condemning and bashing the United States, and most everything that made America the great and powerful nation it once was. Frankly, I agree with Trump and others who say that if these four congresswomen are too unhappy with America, then they should leave and find some other country to live in, like Venezuela and stop trying to convert our country into something ugly and cruel as they are trying to do.
